Communication about COVID-19
Since camp happens in a close community we have always taken great care to develop and maintain medical practices to address a variety of communicable diseases, both common and rare. The policies that we have long had in place will be revised as additional guidance on COVID-19 is released from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and our local health authority.

What is going on with camp?

We have made the difficult decision to cancel our Summer Camp 2020 sessions (June 14-August 14, 2020). Click here to read the letter from our Interim Executive Director and Board President.
What about refunds?
If you have already made a full or partial payment for summer camp please see below. Our staff will be calling to assist you.
  • Donations: Making a gift of some or all of the funds you have already paid is a generous way to ensure the The Fowler Center remains strong and ready to re-open when it is safe to do so. Your gift will help preserve our mission for years to come. Thank you to everyone who is able to make this gift during a time of hardship.
  • Hold on Account as Credit: We can hold your current payment on account as a credit for a future program. This credit must be used by August 31, 2021.
  • Full or Partial Refund: We fully understand that many families are also facing their own hardships. We can process a full refund in the amount paid or you may choose to take a partial refund and donate the remainder. Refunds will be mailed in the form of a check in 6-8 weeks.
Is camp open?
Currently camp is not open to the public. Once the governor lifts the stay at home order we will be on-site to feed the animals and care for the grounds.
When will you be open again?
Although things are subject to change, our current plan is to reopen after the summer season for currently scheduled fall programs. We are hopeful that things will be further along in or state and we will be confident in providing a safe program for your loved one.
Is camp taking phone calls?
We currently have limited staff at camp. If you call and do not get a staff member please leave a message on ext.112
This is devastating to my camper, how will I tell them?
We know that it might be hard for your camper to understand why camp is canceled. Below are resources you might find handy.
Will Camp survive?
Unfortunately, canceling summer camp has a significant financial impact on The Fowler Center. Our "off season" programs are very small; it is our summer program that allows us to employ our wonderful year round staff. Our office will be operating at reduced hours during the fall/winter season so that we can continue to provide respite programs for families. We will be having a few fundraisers over the summer and have started an Adopt-an-Animal program. Consider telling your friends and family about our mission and asking them to partner with us during difficult time if they are in a position to do so.

I miss camp!
