Cabin Couseling & Program Staff

Scroll down and look on the lower right of this page for the application and background check forms.  The Fowler Center staff members are friends and family to our campers as well as professional caregivers and group leaders. If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference and impact people’s lives, consider joining our team!

The Fowler Center recruits summer or year-round staff from colleges and universities around the country where many staff are studying special education or education, therapeutic recreation, or related fields. The Center also utilizes international exchange programs to bring summer staff from other countries, adding a dynamic world flavor to camp. The Fowler Center is a year-round facility with full-time summer employment and volunteer opportunities, as well as part-time spring, fall, and winter employment opportunities. Many staff members have gone on from The Fowler Center to pursue professions in some of the following fields: education, social work, occupational, physical and recreational therapy, special education, nursing and medicine, psychology, and other related human service professions. Internships: It is possible to gain college credit or fieldwork hours from work experience at camp. Internships at The Fowler Center can also be set up in several different fields including therapeutic recreation, outdoor education, and parks and recreation management. Group Event Program Staff

The Fowler Center offers group events and facility rentals on a year round basis. Group Events Program Staff are responsible for preparing and implementing activities chosen by the groups we serve and adapting these activities to the needs of the specific group. Activities include: Challenge Education, Creative Arts, Equestrian, Waterfront, Sports and Recreation, Barnyard and Garden, and Outdoor Education. The Group Events Program Staff is also a very important customer service position, as they also assist in preparing the cabins for groups, transporting luggage and orienting groups to the cabin and grounds, and answering any questions group members may have. Staff are scheduled to work by group, which may include only day visits or overnight/weekend visits. Staff meals are provided by the Fowler Center, and overnight accommodations are available but staying on-site overnight is not mandatory. Part-time Support Staff

During our busier months (April-September), camp will hire local support staff. Positions are part time and paid hourly. Individuals interested in any of the positions below should email a resume to director@thefowlercenter.org
Open Dietary Positions:
  • Cook: IMMEDIATE OPENING! The Fowler Center is looking for a Dietary Cook. Oct.-March average hours are 10-15/2 week pay period. April-September average hours 30-35/2 week pay period. Responsibilities include overseeing aides, preparing meals, shopping, cleanliness of facility, inventory, dietary restrictions, possible menu planning/food ordering in absence of Dietary Supervisor. Must have experience, prefer Serv Safe certification.
  • Kitchen Aide: June-August 20 hours per week. September - May lower hours available. Responsible for assisting cook with meal prep, serving, and clean up. Two shifts available AM (breakfast & lunch) and PM (dinner). 
Open Maintenance Positions:
  • Seasonal Maintenance Assistant: Minimum wage. 32 hours/week, April - September (25 weeks). Responsibilities include general grounds and building upkeep/repair including cleaning & laundry as needed. Includes weekends. 


The Fowler Center has a core administrative team that runs the camp and supports our campers on a daily basis. This team includes kitchen to maintenance to programming to financial staff. For more information, email director@thefowlercenter.org.

IMMEDIATE OPENING - Office Manager: Responsible for registration of all camper programs, intake and upkeep of camper paperwork, and preparation of cabin paperwork for sessions. Duties also include answering phones, office supply ordering, upkeep of census information, etc. Salaried $30,000/year + benefits. IMMEDIATE OPENING - Accounts Payable Clerk: Works Monday & Tuesday, 16 hours/week. $12.00/hour. Responsible for accounts payable and payroll. Must have strong computer skills and be familiar with Quickbooks. Additional 2 hours/week in the summer to assist with camper authorizations.
