PROGRAMS
|
A. Plan and implement with Equestrian Instructor Aide and/or Program Assistants the following:
- 1. Daily activities including, but not exclusive to:
- a. Riding instruction.
- b. Equipment care and use instruction.
- c. Safety checks of equipment.
- d. Checking physical soundness of horses.
- e. Evaluating and classifying camper riding abilities.
- f. Classifying horses as to suitability of riding level.
g. Make certain authorization for horseback riding was given by guardian/parent and/or physician.
- h. Weekend programs.
- i. Planning/creating camp weekend activities.
j. Inclement weather indoor activities.
B. Apprise Program Assistants of:
- 1. Equestrian safety levels.
2. Animal barn status.
- 3. Equipment needs/wants.
C. Develop, integrate and maintain:
- 1. Programs and goals to meet camper’s individual needs.
- 2. Corral area.
3. Program area equipment.
- 4. Resource materials, ideas, and notes on program advancement.
D. Other duties as assigned

TEAMWORK
|
A. Orientation
- 1. Six day training session at the beginning of summer.
2. Plan and implement Orientation, for staff during Summer Staff Orientation, to Equestrian Program with Equestrian Instructor Aide (2-3 hrs.)
3. Attend staff in-services during summer.
B. Maintain positive working relations with each member of the staff and positive attitude throughout summer.
C. Keep Program Assistant and/or Cabin Leads informed of staff involvement in activities.
* Any horseback riding on the grounds of The Fowler Center for Outdoor Learning must be done in the presence of the Equestrian Instructor (exceptions must be approved in writing by the Equestrian Instructor and the Executive Director).
