Sports and Recreation Instructor Job Description
PROGRAMS

A. Plan and implement

1. Daily activities (Including, but not exclusive to)
a. Fitness goals for each camper.
b. Individual and group aerobic and fitness goals.
c. Team sports.
d. Individual sports.
e. Intercamp tournaments.
f. Gymnastics.
g. Archery.
h. Inclement weather indoor activities.
2. Individually designed programs and goals to meet camper’s special needs.
3. Assist with planning/ creating and participate in evening programs.
4. Assist with special day and weekend programs.
5. Other duties as assigned

B. Apprise Program Assistants of

1. Activity periods.
2. Equipment needs/wants.
3. Special all camp weekend programs.

C. Develop, integrate and maintain

1. New programs.
2. Equipment inventory.
3. Appropriate playing fields (i.e. softball field, archery range, basketball hoop, etc.
4. Entire camp recreation spirit.

D. Other duties as assigned.

CAMPER NEEDS

A. Assist with:

1. Morning, Rest Hour and evening direct care, including lifting and transfers up to 70 pounds.
2. Mealtime.
3. Emergencies as needed.
4. Other duties as assigned.

B. Forward information to Program Assistants concerning each camper’s progress.

TEAMWORK A. Orientation
1. Six day training session at the beginning of summer.
2. Orient staff to Sports and Recreation program at beginning of the summer (1-2 hr.).
3. Attend staff in-service during summer.

B. Maintain positive attitude throughout summer.

C. Maintain positive working relations with each member of the staff.

D. Keep Program Assistants informed of staff involvement in activities.
