Waterfront Aide Job Description
Minimum Requirement: A. Age 19 or higher.

B. Certified Lifeguard (in conjunction with WSI (or their equivalents*) preferred).

PROGRAMS

A. Assist Waterfront Director in planning and implementing:

1. Daily activities (including, but not exclusive to):
a. Swimming instruction.
b. Boating.
c. Water safety.
d. Individual games.
e. Group games.
f. Fishing.
g. Recreational swims.
h. Water environment appreciation.
i. Attend Lifeguard drills.
j. Inclement weather indoor activities.
2. Individually designed programs and goals to meet camper’s needs.
3. Assist with planning/ creating and participate in evening programs.
4. Assist with special day and weekend programs.
5. Assist with special all camp waterfront activities.

B. Apprise Waterfront Director of:

1. Water safety levels.
2. Equipment needs/wants.

C. Assist Waterfront Director in developing, integrating and maintaining:

1. New Programs.
2. Water safety.
3. Program area equipment.
4. Beach and grass area.

D. Other duties as assigned.

CAMPER NEEDS

A. Assist Cabin Staff (cabin(s) to be assigned) with:

1. Morning, Rest Hour and evening direct care, including lifting and transfers up to 70 pounds.
2. Mealtime.
3. Emergencies as needed.
4. Other duties as assigned.

B. Forward program information to Waterfront Director and Program Assistants concerning each camper’s progress.

TEAMWORK A. Orientation
1. Six day training session at the beginning of summer.
2. Assist in orienting staff to Waterfront program at beginning of the summer (4 hr.).
3. Attend staff in-services during summer.

B. 9:30-10:45AM (Checkout days only) attend Lifeguard drills utilizing specific rescue apparatus and cleanup the waterfront area.

C. Maintain positive attitude and working relations with each member of the staff throughout the summer.

D. Keep Waterfront Director and/or Program Assistants informed of staff involvement in program/ activities.

*Equivalency based on American Camping Association Standards.
