Waterfront Director Job Description
|
| Minimum Requirement: |
A. Age 21 or higher.
B. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid and Waterfront Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent*).
C. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or equivalent*) preferred.
D. Baccalaureate Degree preferred.

| PROGRAMS
|
A. Plan and implement with assistance of the Waterfront Aides:
- 1. Daily activities (including, but not exclusive to):
-
- a. Swimming instruction.
b. Boating.
c. Water safety.
d. Individual games.
e. Group games.
f. Fishing.
g. Recreational swims.
h. Water environment appreciation.
i. Inclement weather indoor activities.
- 2. Individually designed programs and goals to meet camper’s needs.
3. Assist with planning/creating and participate in evening programs. 4. Prepare and assist with special day and weekend programs. 5. Plan and assist with special all camp waterfront activities.
B. Apprise Program Assistants of:
- 1. Water safety levels.
2. Equipment needs/wants.
C. Develop, integrate and maintain:
- 1. New Programs.
2. Water safety.
3. Program area equipment.
4. Beach and grass area.
D. Other duties as assigned.

CAMPER NEEDS
|
A. Assist Cabin Staff (cabin(s) to be assigned) with:
- 1. Morning, Rest Hour and evening direct care, including lifting and transfers up to 70 pounds.
2. Mealtime.
3. Emergencies as needed.
4. Other duties as assigned.
B. Forward information to the Program Assistant(s) concerning each camper’s progress.

TEAMWORK
|
A. Orientation
- 1. Six day training session at the beginning of summer.
- 2. Assist in orienting staff to Waterfront program at beginning of the summer (4 hr.).
- 3. Attend staff in-services during summer.
B. Maintain positive attitude and working relations with each member of the staff throughout the summer.
C. Keep Program Assistant(s) informed of staff involvement in program/ activities.
*Equivalency based on American Camping Association Standards.
