Weekend Respite/Changeover Health Officer
REQUIREMENTS: Aged 21 or older.
Possess a valid license or registration to practice nursing in Michigan.

Qualifications:

A. Responsible for supervision and administration of staff and camper medications.

1. Arrival-
a. Welcome (meeting parents, learning home med administration techniques).
b. Update and/or complete each individual’s Medication Administration Sheet to comply with physician’s orders (if personal orders parent/guardian must sign a release).
c. Package the “Med Pass” envelopes for the first 24 hours of medications (i.e. 8PM, 8AM, 12N and 5PM) in front of parent/guardian.

2. During their stay-
a. Maintaining medication doses at least 2 doses in advance of administration.
b. Documenting medication administration on each individual’s Medication Administration Sheet immediately following each completed pass
3. Departure-
a. Return medications to parent/guardians (including empty medication containers i.e. dose pack cards.)

B. Responsible for supervision of First Aid

1. Monitor (correct if needed) first aid administration by other staff.
2. Perform first aid.
3. Document first aid administration (i.e. Nurse’s section of the Incident Report forms).

C. Responsible for informing the Assistant Camp Director of any needs requiring off camp assistance before replying to or phoning parent/guardian or camper’s physician.

D. Care for and notify Assistant Camp Director of any camper/staff medical concerns as they arise.

E. Inventory the Med. Room then present stocking/restocking list to the Assistant Camp Director.

F. Maintain cleanliness of the medication areas.

1. Thorough cleaning/disinfecting of the med pass containers at the end of each session.
2. As needed thorough cleaning/disinfecting of the Medication, Infirmary and Nurse’s rooms.

TEAMWORK 1. Orientation
a. Arrive at or near 5:00pm and join in staff dinner and meeting.
b. Attend and participate in staff in-services as requested.

2. Maintain positive attitude and working relations with every member of the staff.
