Year Round Staff
The Fowler Center has a core administrative team that runs the camp and supports our campers daily on a year round basis. This team includes a variety of individuals who have knowledge and experience in providing programs and services for children and adults with disabilities.
Carissa St. Laurent, MSW
Director of The Fowler Center

Favorite Camp Activity: Though she hasn't been at TFC for the summer yet, she has fallen in love with our horses and small animals.  Carissa loves the area by the lake. Carissa says "Anything to do with water and I'm there!"

Carissa has her Master's in Social Work degree from Michigan State University and has been employed with the parent agency of The Fowler Center (Methodist Children's Home Society) for about 6 years.  She has spent over a decade working with youth in foster care who exhibit behavioral challenges due to their traumatic pasts.  And while she has loved every second working with that population, as soon as she heard about the opportunity at The Fowler Center she knew that it was a program that she wanted to be involved with.   As the Director of The Fowler Center, she will be working closely with our dynamic team to ensure that our mission is fulfilled through our programs, strategic planning, and community partnerships. Carissa has so many great memories of going to camp when she was a child, and looks forward to being able to be part of something that is able to give those same unique and exciting experiences to adults and youth who may have otherwise never thought it was possible.

Favorite Camp Activity: Swimming, hangin' in my hammock....there are too many to choose!

Lynn's experience at The Fowler Center started by volunteering for a respite weekend in September 2004. It was the first weekend they used the ACCESSIBLE HIGH ROPES COURSE and she fell in LOVE ! The staff were so encouraging and fun with the campers. She just had to return. Over the next 2 years during college she worked at camp as a weekend respite counselor, the 2005 Outpost Coordinator, and 2006 Program Coordinator. After graduating in May 2007 from Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation she started working full time as Assistant Director and then Camp Director. Lynn believes in the power of CAMP and loves giving campers and staff the chance to learn and grow in our community.

Brent Dawson
Facility Supervisor
Lillian Ross aka "Lily"
Animal Handler

Favorite Camp Activity:

Lily grew up on a small farm outside of Mayville and was raised around barnyard animals. She started her horsemanship experience as riding lesson student at The Fowler Center in 2016. After taking lessons at the center she adopted her paint horse named Mojito (pictured left), from Starry Skies Recue in Ann Arbor. She adopted Mojito as a training project and he has helped her further develop her horsemanship skills.  Lily is now in the US Army Reserves and is proud to be serving her country. She is excited to be working at The Fowler Center year round and develop her skills in animal care and adaptive riding. She can't wait to meet the diverse individuals we serve.
